  • William Mertz

    President & Founder

    Bill Mertz founded Corporate CFO in 2010. He focuses on establishing our client relationships and works closely with Business owners as a key trusted advisor. Bill works with companies to enhance their organizational development, obtain financing, implement growth strategies, and organize their strategic objectives. It was his goal to establish Corporate CFO to provide the same financial sophistication to small businesses that large companies have access to. He also recognizes that the value of the business is the owners greatest asset, he assists in maximizing this value through implementing exit plans and succession plans to include management buyouts and third party sales.

    Bill earned a B.B.A. in Accounting from James Madison University. Prior to Corporate CFO he has over 30 years of accounting and strategic consulting experience extending across numerous industries. Bill co-founded Watkins Consulting, Inc., a national consulting firm established to provide consulting and accounting services to the Resolution Trust Corporation. As CEO, Bill was responsible for the oversight of all large engagements including strategic planning, process improvement, financial investigations and complex litigation, forensic accounting, as well as real estate and project management engagements.

    Away from work Bill enjoys spending time with his family, especially chasing around his four grandchildren. He also enjoys hiking and camping around the Mid-Atlantic region.

  • Billy Mertz

    Vice President

    Billy Mertz joined the Corporate CFO team in 2011. He is responsible for providing accounting and advisory services to our clients, including the preparation of annual budgets, monthly and quarterly financial reporting, Profitability analysis, and Cash flow management. Billy is also instrumental in working with our clients to obtain financing and maximizing the clients banking relationship. In his time with Corporate CFO Billy has found that all small businesses need support in managing their cash flow and setting goals and budgets for their organization. He believes this gives Management great clarity to manage their business and make decisions efficiently and effectively. He also works closely with business owners on strategic planning, exit planning and succession planning.

    Billy is a Graduate of the University of Alabama, prior to coming to Corporate CFO, Billy spent two years coaching some of the world’s top junior tennis players in College Park, Maryland as well as Atlanta, Georgia. Billy was a four-year letterman on the University of Alabama Men’s Tennis Team, where he was a team captain and earned All-SEC honors.

    Away from work, Billy enjoys rooting on all Alabama Sports, and spending time with his wife and daughter. Billy also enjoys running, playing tennis, and spending time at the beach.

  • David Potter, CPA

    Senior Manager

    David Potter joined the Corporate CFO team in 2017. He is responsible for managing and overseeing our construction contracting clients, including producing monthly WIP reports, Direct and Indirect Labor Costs, job costing and job profitability analysis. David also works closely with Management to provide Job cost estimates, Consolidated financials, compliance reporting to regulatory agencies, and the submission of monthly reports to financial institutions. David has been instrumental in working with management to increase profitability, enhance growth strategies, and ensure the achievement of corporate goals and objectives.

    David earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the Pennsylvania State University, prior to Corporate CFO he has over 20 years of controllership experience, with a strong emphasis in the construction industry. David is a licensed CPA and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

    Outside of work, David likes spending time with family, including two Newfoundland dogs. He is a car enthusiast that also likes photography, hiking, and travel.

  • Carla Robinson, CPA

    Senior Manager

    Carla is a Senior Manager at Corporate CFO Services, responsible for managing and overseeing many of our outsourced accounting and special project engagements.

    Carla has over 30 years of experience providing accounting and consulting services to small businesses in a variety of industries. Her experience includes extensive work in all facets of corporate accounting, establishing and implementing accounting procedures, software implementation, and financial reporting for executive management. She previously worked as a controller and manager for a regional certified accounting firm managing over 100 business and personal income tax returns.

    Mrs. Robinson earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Maryland, she is a licensed CPA, a member of the American institute of CPAs, and a certified Quickbooks Pro Advisor.

  • Lisa T Perdue

    Senior Manager

    Lisa Perdue joined the Corporate CFO team in 2018. She brings 20 years of C-Level experience to the Corporate CFO Services’ Team. Lisa is a Quickbooks Pro Advisor with deep expertise driving continuous improvement across all aspects of transactional accounting – integrating best of breed software on a Quickbooks backbone to efficiently record the revenue-generating activities and related costs, including payroll for our clients. Lisa is detail oriented and adept at month end close processes including, bank and credit card reconciliations, depreciation and amortization schedules, sales and use tax reporting, and calculation of work-in-process schedule. She also leverages her extensive industry knowledge combined with analytical rigor to provide clients with creative, value-added services that range from SBA 8(a) certification, corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation strategies along with more nuanced services such as factoring receivables, obtaining lines of credit, OSHA-10 certification, perfecting mechanic liens and securing project-specific payment and performance bonds.

    Lisa received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Marymount University while working full time for a global management consulting firm in DC. Prior to relocating to the DMV from Oklahoma, she earned a Letters Degree at the University of Oklahoma while cheering for her all-time favorite college football team, the Sooners. Prior to joining Corporate CFO, Ms. Perdue was a founding member and chief financial officer for a successful commercial construction company. She also served as chief financial officer for the largest Virginia-domicile mortgage lending startup that eventually generated $770 million.

    In her leisure, Lisa is an amateur chef wannabe and horticulture fanatic. She spends most weekends in support of her 16 year-old daughter’s extracurriculars – equestrian, archery, and field hockey – volunteering for organizations such as Casanova-Warrenton Pony Club, Great Meadows Foundation and the National Archery in the Schools Program.

  • Eileen Shifflett, CPA

    Accounting Manager

    Eileen Shifflett is an Accounting Manager at Corporate CFO, responsible for overseeing the processing of payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable, as well as preparing the month-end financial statements. She is also responsible for Corporate CFO’s quality control, and development of our internal training programs.

    Eileen is also a member of the Accounting Department at James Madison University. At James Madison, she is responsible for the ongoing design and implementation of the two-credit progression in Excel Training required for all students majoring in Accounting.

    Eileen received both a B.B.A. in Accounting and an M.B.A. from James Madison University.

  • Luke Higgins

    Accountant

    Luke Higgins joined the Corporate CFO team in 2017. He is responsible for managing all aspects of our clients’ accounting needs, including, accounts payable and payment processing, accounts receivable, payroll management, and Financial Statement preparation. Luke works closely with management to provide budgets, financial statements, and profitability reports for Board Meetings and Management meetings. He has also played a major role in working with our clients to make significant improvements in their accounting processes and internal controls. Luke also oversees several audits each year for our clients to ensure all schedules are prepared and reports are provided to the auditors.

    Prior to coming to Corporate CFO, Luke worked for a public accounting firm in Maryland. Luke gained experience completing audits, reviews, compilations, and tax returns. Luke is a graduate from York College of Pennsylvania where he received a Bachelor of Science with a focus in accounting. At York College, Luke was a founding member of the Club Baseball program.

    When not working, Luke can be found on the golf course or at the local dog park with his Bernese Mountain dog, Harper. Luke lives in Edgewater, MD with his wife, Emilia, and daughter, Emerson.

  • Kevin Wright

    Accountant

    Kevin joined the Corporate CFO team in 2018. He is responsible for managing all aspects of our clients’ accounting, including overseeing accounts payable and accounts receivable, preparing month end financial statements, and producing budgets. Kevin has extensive experience with clients in the construction industry, leading preparation of management reporting, job costing analysis, and successfully completing an SEC audit to take a client public. He has also implemented internal controls and best practices for a variety of companies focused on improving month-end accounting procedures and timely financial information. Kevin is very skilled in Excel, especially utilizing it for large data sets and reports to provide helpful information to our clients.

    Kevin is a graduate from the University of Maryland, College Park where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. Prior to joining Corporate CFO, Kevin worked in the restaurant industry serving as General Manager for Looneys Pub in College Park, MD. Kevin’s management role provided valuable experience in accounting processes including overseeing a staff and payroll processing of 100+ employees, profitability analysis, and monthly financial statements.

    Away from work, Kevin enjoys rooting on the Maryland Terrapins and DC professional teams, golfing, and spending time with his rescue-mutt Bodie. Kevin also enjoys traveling, with a bucket-list of visiting all U.S. National Parks – his current favorites are Zion and Grand Teton.

     

  • Shane Elie

    Staff Accountant

    Shane Elie joined the Corporate CFO team in 2020. He is responsible for providing all aspects of accounting services to our clients, including general ledger coding, client invoicing, accounts payable processing, bank reconciliations, and supporting in financial statement preparation.  Shane works closely with management to enhance transactional entry automation, monthly balance sheet audits, and ensuring the accuracy of our client’s financial information.

    Shane is a graduate of Fordham University in New York, with a degree in Public Accounting. At Fordham, Shane was a member of the Club Lacrosse Team.  Prior to joining Corporate CFO, Shane worked as the Operations Manager for O’Donnell’s Market in Potomac, Maryland.  In this role, Shane was exposed to the front and back end operations of running a small business through inventory management, vendor invoicing, payroll processing, scheduling, and profitability analysis.

    Outside of Corporate CFO, Shane is the Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at Gonzaga College High School in Washington, DC, where he works with over 200 student athletes.  Shane is an avid Washington Capitals fan, and hopes to travel back to a Stanley Cup Finals game, like he did in Las Vegas in 2018.  Shane enjoys picking crabs and being on the water whenever he gets the chance.

     

  • Vickie Tobin

    Accounting Associate

    Vickie Tobin joined Corporate CFO in 2010. She is responsible for processing general ledger transactions, accounts payable processing, and client invoicing. Vickie is also responsible for preparing bank and credit card reconciliations for all our client’s accounts, enhancing internal controls by segregating duties.

    Prior to joining Corporate CFO, Vickie worked as an Administrative Officer at U.S. Geological Survey, where her duties included tracking departmental expenditures and budget reconciliations

  • Kelly Higgins

    Marketing Administrator

    Kelly Higgins joined the Corporate CFO team in 2015. She is responsible for the Marketing Administration, including overseeing our social media presence, organizing and overseeing effective PR and branding activities, as well as lead tracking and helping pursue targets.

    Kelly earned her Bachelors and Masters degree in Education from James Madison University, where she was a member of the club triathlon team.

    Away from work Kelly enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter, as well as chasing after their rescue dog.
